Yesterday, I hosted my first #SCBWI #SouthernBreeze #Cobb-Paulding in person meet'n'greet!
Thank you to Mike and Donna who braved the storm to participated in our Build-Your-Author Brand Workshop. Thanks also to our speaker Jeniffer Vance from #BooksForward and #PowderSprings #Library for having us!
We learned so much about brand recognition, figuring out what our own brands should be, how they will evolve as we write and again as we are published. Jenifer explained that we don't NEED social media to be successful. She gave us some helpful ways to be ourselves as we learn to promote our selves.
It was encouraging to learn all the things I've done so far have been helpful in building my own brand. I realized during the talk that I'm not just about natural history, STEAM, and Science. I'm also very much a promotor of Female Empowerment in my picture book ideas, and my YA that I just beginning to explore. Were I thought my work was scattered and unfocused I'm beginning to see a pattern.
We had a great conversation. Can't wait to see even more members at the next one. Hopefully in better weather.
